Position Overview

Permanent, Part-Time (8PAs)

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join a dedicated team, focusing on neurodevelopmental challenges within a community mental health framework. There may be opportunities for fixed-term roles that could extend to 10 PAs.

The vision of the service is to cultivate a compassionate and high-performing multidisciplinary team, prioritizing clinical excellence and active involvement of patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes participation in monthly professional development sessions, local quality assurance meetings, and senior management discussions. This established consultant position is centered on addressing moderate to severe mental health issues in young individuals aged 0-18 years within the community. The focus of this role is on neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership to the neurodevelopmental and learning disability pathway.
  • Delivering direct clinical services to young patients and their families, particularly those with complex mental health needs.
  • Supporting the multidisciplinary team in managing intricate cases.

Each service operates under a local management structure, ensuring a supportive environment for both staff and service users. The team is well-equipped to offer early intervention services and specialized support for various needs.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • Section 12 MHA Approval.
  • Approved Clinician status or a willingness to pursue this approval.
  • A primary medical degree.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Completion of training for the Clinical Supervisor role or a willingness to undertake such training.
Skills and Attributes

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of clinical governance and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience in medical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to teach and supervise junior staff and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Expertise in assessing and managing complex cases involving high-risk emotional disorders and neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, with a capacity to engage effectively with diverse populations.
Additional Information

This position is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check, in accordance with relevant legislation.

Compensation for this role ranges from £99,532 to £131,964 annually, with an additional London Weighting allowance.
