About the Role

In the capacity of a Flavor Innovation Specialist, you will be instrumental in our efforts to enhance and innovate our product offerings based on consumer insights. Your responsibilities will include assessing and quantifying sensory characteristics of our products, devising strategies to improve our beverages, refining formulations, and ultimately contributing to the development of exceptional tasting drinks for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

PRODUCT STABILITY

  • Formulate protocols and spearhead the sensory component of the stability team.
  • Gain proficiency in LIMS and TDMS systems as they pertain to the strategic advancement of sensory science in product stability.
  • Validate shelf life for all new product launches and continuously assess existing shelf-life data for current offerings, representing the sensory team in discussions regarding product longevity.
  • Cultivate a strategic understanding of the relationship between product formulation and shelf life to enhance the sensory quality of our offerings.

CONSUMER AND SENSORY ANALYSIS

  • Conduct difference, profiling, and consumer testing processes, along with data analysis and reporting.
  • Implement preference mapping, TDS, rapid profiling techniques, and other necessary methodologies.
  • Advocate for the application of scientific techniques to gain a competitive edge.
  • Utilize new IT/statistical analysis tools to manage sensory evaluation data effectively.
  • Collaborate with the NPD team to develop liquid formulations and provide sensory insights.
  • Participate in the SBI process by understanding and supporting concept development, executing and analyzing internal consumer/external panel tests, and assisting team members in reviewing consumer feedback from a sensory perspective.

SENSORY ASSESSMENT

  • Establish processes and protocols for internal and external participants involved in sensory evaluations to ensure high standards in data collection.
  • Lead and oversee the internal sensory panel to guarantee performance, efficiency, and accuracy.

What You Bring to the Table

  • A solid foundation in science (sensory, food, or behavioral science) within the FMCG, flavor, or research sectors.
  • A self-starter with exceptional attention to detail and a rigorous approach.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting data and drawing insightful conclusions.
  • Familiarity with sensory software systems such as FIZZ, RedJade, and Eyequestion.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Problem-solving capabilities, adept at troubleshooting and addressing unforeseen challenges.
