Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Actuary to take on the role of Financial Oversight Manager. This position offers a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package.

The Financial Oversight team is tasked with evaluating and enhancing processes to ensure a robust control environment is upheld throughout the Legal & General Group. In this capacity, you will support the Financial Oversight Lead and Senior Managers to ensure the Financial Control Framework (FCF) operates effectively and efficiently throughout the annual reporting cycle. This role necessitates ongoing collaboration with stakeholders across various divisions and functions, including senior teams within Divisional and Group Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as an actuarial control authority for the L&G Group, ensuring that actuarial financial reporting areas are thoroughly reviewed and critically assessed in relation to the control framework. This includes providing guidance and training to other Financial Oversight team members and key stakeholders within the organization.
  • Ensure the completion of FCF requirements concerning walkthrough performance and the design and operational effectiveness of actuarial processes, which involves:
    - Identifying relevant risks and controls.
    - Completing final risk and control lists.
    - Documenting and addressing issues arising from the design effectiveness assessment.
    - Accurately capturing all issues and actions.
    - Assisting in the production of relevant management information for the committee.
  • Conduct risk assessment validation, including agreeing on and rating deficiencies, as well as developing associated remediation plans. Engage with key stakeholders to facilitate the smooth execution of these plans.
  • Support the review of significant models and end-user computing (EUC) as necessary to provide assurance to the Group Model and Financial Oversight Committee.
  • Oversee business-as-usual deliverables, including task scheduling, ensuring that the team's output meets the highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review and approve key deliverables while managing individual capabilities to ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently, with prompt resolution of any issues.
Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:

  • Nearly Qualified or Qualified Actuary (or equivalent demonstrable experience)
  • Experience with IFRS17 and auditing
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Legal & General Group and its offerings
  • Strong grasp of actuarial processes related to protection and retirement sectors
  • Familiarity with financial reporting risk and control frameworks is advantageous but not essential
  • Solid conceptual and practical understanding of risks and processes in insurance and asset management
  • Ability to critically evaluate technical requirements and devise innovative, practical solutions to challenges
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to persuade on technical matters
