Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care Responsibilities

- Maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care programs within a team nursing framework, incorporating the Named Nurse initiative.

- Coordinate patient transfer arrangements in accordance with theatre protocols, ensuring effective handover of care to relevant staff.

- Foster a patient-centered approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals.

- Educate patients and their caregivers as necessary, identifying needs for information and support.

- Ensure a safe perioperative environment is maintained.

- Accurately complete patient documentation.

- Assist in establishing and monitoring care protocols and pathways.

- Participate in promoting and maintaining effective communication.

- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.

- Supervise junior staff in the delivery of care.

- Assume responsibility in the absence of the theatre team leader.
