Role Overview:
We are in search of a proficient Bookkeeper with expertise in Xero, ideally possessing experience within the construction sector. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and capable of executing tasks independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment when required.
This position offers flexibility, allowing for a work schedule of 3-4 days per week after an initial settling-in period. There is potential for additional administrative responsibilities to extend to a full-time role or to maintain a part-time schedule based on personal needs.
Key Duties:
- Oversee bookkeeping operations for a business with approximately £1m in turnover, including management of purchase and sales ledgers as well as credit control utilizing Xero Accounting Software.
- Ensure the precise and timely completion of all bookkeeping functions, including payroll processing and payments to subcontractors, with a solid understanding of CIS regulations.
- Efficiently manage Reverse Charge VAT, bank reconciliations, and VAT submissions.
- Conduct job costing and allocate expenses to various ongoing projects, maintaining oversight of the company’s cash flow.
- Leverage Xero for diverse accounting and financial reporting responsibilities.
- Exhibit strong Excel skills for effective financial data management and analysis.
- Perform accounting and administrative tasks as dictated by business needs.
Candidate Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably within an SME context.
- Ability to work autonomously while ensuring a smooth transition through provided training and handover processes.
- Essential proficiency in Xero software.
- Knowledge of CIS regulations and experience with subcontractor payment processes.
- Familiarity with Reverse Charge VAT and experience in conducting bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns.
- Strong skills in Xero reporting and a solid understanding of Excel.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary up to £32,000 based on experience.
- Standard office hours from 9 AM to 5 PM with a one-hour lunch break.
