Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Utilities & Site Services

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a hands-on role, focusing on utilities and site services. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical bias and experience with ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, and automated industrial freezers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all plant machinery and equipment operate smoothly and efficiently, meeting performance targets for productivity, quality, and reliability.
  • Use mechanical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, with a focus on ammonia refrigeration plants, steam boilers, and automated systems.
  • Work closely with the operations team to tackle critical objectives and drive continuous improvement through initiatives like 5S, root cause analysis, and center-lining machines.
  • Get involved in exciting projects, including equipment installations, PUWER assessments, and critical spares analysis.
  • Use the CMMS system to manage maintenance tasks, ensure plant monitoring is thorough, and provide valuable feedback.
Requirements:
  • A recognised Apprenticeship, an NVQ Level 3 in engineering or relevant engineering qualification. Ideally in plant maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience in steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration, industrial freezers, and automation systems.
  • Fault-finding and problem-solving skills are second to none, and you excel at working independently.
  • Good understanding of the importance of safety in an industrial environment and can follow risk assessments meticulously.
  • Familiar with Outlook, Word, Excel, and CMMS systems - you're comfortable using tech to support your work.
  • You're flexible when it comes to shifts and able to step up when cover is needed, whether for projects or holidays.
