About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Nursing Sister to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and governance to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Governance
    • Provide clinical leadership to nursing staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, including the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing and midwifery care standards, encompassing the Essence of Care philosophy.
  • Patient Safety and Quality
    • Deliver the outcomes and measures for patient safety as identified in the Trust's corporate agenda, ensuring timely and safe delivery.
    • Facilitate complex care, discharge, or patient care issues, using analytical skills to problem-solve and find solutions.
    • Ensure compliance with all NMC professional codes, both personally and for the nursing team.
  • Staff Development and Support
    • Provide support to patients, relatives, carers, and staff in the delivery of nursing care.
    • Lead, inspire, and coordinate the development and implementation of nursing and midwifery care standards.
    • Contribute to the development of nursing skills in all aspects of the role, providing expert clinical knowledge and specialized advice.
Person Specification
  • Qualifications
    • Active registration with the NMC or HCPC United Kingdom.
    • Recognised Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
    • Immediate Life Support.
  • Experience
    • Experience (through placement or employment) of working in an acute clinical environment.
    • Enhanced Knowledge and experience of working as a Staff Nurse.
  • Knowledge/Skills
    • Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate.
    • To achieve a range of clinical competencies as required fulfilling the role.
    • Personally resilient and able to manage complexity and work in an ambiguous or changing environment.
    • Excellent presentational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
