Job Description

The Housekeeping Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of public areas, back-of-house spaces, and guest floors in our facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our guests and staff. The Housekeeping Porter will assist in the delivery of linens, removal of rubbish, and any other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.

About The Role

The Housekeeping Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of public areas, back-of-house spaces, and guest floors in our facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our guests and staff. The Housekeeping Porter will assist in the delivery of linens, removal of rubbish, and any other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Public Area Maintenance:

Clean and maintain the lobby, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and other public areas.

Ensure all public areas are kept free from debris, dust, and other cleanliness issues.

Polish and clean mirrors, windows, and light fixtures in public spaces.

Guest Floor Maintenance:

Assist housekeeping staff with the removal of linens, rubbish, and recycling from guest floors.

Deliver fresh linens, towels, and other supplies to housekeeping carts and storage areas.

Monitor and report any maintenance issues such as burnt-out light bulbs, broken fixtures, or leaks.

Back-of-House Support:

Maintain cleanliness in back-of-house areas including staff restrooms, canteen, and storage areas.

Organize and stock housekeeping closets and carts with necessary supplies.

Assist in the transportation of large cleaning equipment and supplies to and from storage areas.

Waste Management:

Collect and properly dispose of all rubbish and recycling from public areas, guest floors, and back-of-house spaces.

Ensure waste bins are cleaned, sanitized, and well-maintained.

Guest Interaction:

Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner when encountered in public spaces.

Respond promptly to guest requests and escalate any issues to the appropriate staff.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures.

Use cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.

Report any unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to the Housekeeping Manager.

Additional Duties:

Assist with special projects as directed by the Housekeeping Manager.

Participate in deep cleaning projects as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Experience:

Previous experience in a housekeeping or porter role is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

Skills:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills and the ability to interact with guests and staff courteously.

Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects as needed.

Working Conditions:

Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving objects throughout the shift.

May be required to work in varying temperatures and noise levels depending on the location within the facility.

May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
