Key Responsibilities:

The Head of Commercial and Contract Management will be responsible for managing the retail payroll budget, ensuring accurate labour modelling and maintaining tight control over workload, budget, and costs to align with our business plan expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Accountability: Take full ownership of the £82m retail payroll budget, ensuring accurate labour modelling and maintaining tight control over workload, budget, and costs to align with our business plan expectations.
  • Labour Management: Develop and refine a robust labour management framework to ensure timely and accurate deployment of labour hours within the agreed budget.
  • Operating Model Development: Lead the design and execution of a lean Store Operating Model, adaptable to the future growth of the business, ensuring costs grow at a slower rate than sales.
  • Business Strategy & Leadership: Contribute to key business priorities by developing and leading action plans from conception through to successful implementation.
  • Inspirational Leadership: Lead and develop a governance team that drives commercial sense and challenges data within the Labour Model, fostering a culture that aligns with the corporate plan.
  • Process Improvements: Be accountable for all retail Time and Motion studies, driving process improvements and reducing unnecessary tasks, ensuring efficient operations across the retail estate.
  • Innovation in Processes: Develop and implement new ways of working, ensuring retail operational processes are simple, cost-effective, and deployed consistently across all stores in the UK & ROI.
  • Project Management: Sponsor and lead bespoke projects that deliver operational improvements and drive projected sales/savings benefits.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Skilled in senior stakeholder management, with a proven track record demonstrating ability to identify, establish and effectively manage senior stakeholder relationships on strategic and insight topics.
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of simply articulating complex data and insight with authority to colleagues of all levels and making the case for change – outstanding story teller.
  • Ability to join up insights from across different sources to provide the business with a holistic understanding of critical consumer issues and opportunities to drive business performance in a customer centric manner.
  • Strong strategic and structured thinking with a commercial focus to help drive the business forward and exceed targets.
  • Proven insight collection, integration, management and interrogation experience – using data to produce actionable insight that delivers impact across qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Passion for data and insight – with an analytical and curious mindset, and skilled at analysing data sets from a variety of often complex data sources to create compelling insight.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to define and drive requirements both effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to relentlessly prioritise their own workstack, understanding where to spend time to create the greatest business impact.
  • Experience in strategy, insight or commercial roles (or a mix) either client side or at a strategy consultancy or research agency.
  • Result driven, with strong attention to detail, execution, follow-up and a focus on quality.
