Job Overview
We are currently seeking a temporary Project Coordination Specialist to join our Primary Network Design Team. This role will be pivotal in managing various projects related to electricity connections and will be based in our operational area for a defined period.
The Primary Network Design team handles inquiries related to new load and generation connections at voltages of 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV, as well as the design and technical support for the distribution network.
As a Project Coordination Specialist, you will report directly to the Primary Network Design Team Manager and will be responsible for overseeing a range of accepted connection offers and associated reinforcement projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. You will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue variations to customer connection offers, reflecting changes in timelines, scope, and costs, while updating project documentation in our management tools.
- Monitor and manage milestones for customer connection offers, ensuring effective queue management of accepted projects.
- Organize and facilitate initial project kickoff meetings, led by the designated PND Engineer.
- Participate in regular project review meetings to assess progress and address any issues.
- Draft and obtain necessary financial approvals for project expenditures.
- Coordinate and commission various initial surveys with both internal and external service providers.
- Ensure timely completion of internal surveys to support the submission of technical reports for customer approval.
- Circulate design submissions from Independent Connection Providers to relevant teams for feedback and utilize your knowledge of company policies to provide constructive comments.
- Assist PND Engineers in preparing relevant Construction, Design and Management (CDM) documentation.
- Monitor project financials to ensure positive cash flow through collaboration with Project Engineers and key stakeholders.
- Ensure that necessary identifiers such as substation and MPAN numbers are created and communicated to customers.
- Aid in the creation and modification of formal agreements, ensuring they are finalized prior to project energization.
- Update project activities in internal tracking systems to maintain accurate records.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in report writing and presentations. Experience in project and program management is essential, along with a proven ability to manage budgets, organize multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines. You should be adept at building effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate a keen attention to detail while working independently within the guidelines set by the PND Team Manager.
A project management qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
