Job Description

**Job Title:** Strategic Planning Centre Lead

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our Strategic Planning Centre, driving the development of our strategic advisory offer and ensuring effective governance and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning Function Design & Implementation: Lead the development of our strategic advisory offer, working across business areas to deliver an agile and effective route to implementation.
  • Communications & Stakeholder Management: Communicate plans for design and implementation of our strategic advice capability, providing a focused and single point of contact for customers to access strategic advice.
  • Governance & Stakeholder Management: Develop the proposition for the governance of our strategic advice as part of our Strategic Planning Function governance and support the DIO Strategy and Development Board.
  • Change Management & Integration: Support the establishment of our nascent Strategic Planning Function, working alongside Corporate Governance to ensure alignment with our Corporate Vision, Mission, and Operating Model.
Person Specification:
  • Essential: Experience in leading teams and achieving delivery through others, understanding of our Operating Models, knowledge of the role of Defence and the operation of the MOD as a Department of State, ability to deal with new concepts within the existing operating model, and experience in building teams and leading problem-solving of multi-dimensional issues.
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of the Defence political and policy context, understanding of how infrastructure underpins military capability, and experience of leading and shaping work with others from different professional backgrounds to achieve organisation priorities.
Technical Skills:
  • Project or Programme Management: Adept at developing project plans and managing risk, issues, stakeholder engagement, and communication strategies.
  • Policy and Strategy: Outlining vision and developing milestones to achieve strategic objectives, highlighting cross-cutting issues, and communicating written and verbally to Ministers and Senior Boards.
