This role presents an exciting opportunity to join our seasoned professionals in the Marine Claims division. As a Marine Claims Specialist, you will be instrumental in managing and resolving claims within our portfolio, which includes Hull, Cargo, and Liability claims for clients worldwide. You will collaborate closely with your supervisor and fellow claims specialists to facilitate claim resolutions. Your role will involve interaction and cooperation with the practice leader, underwriting teams, brokers, clients, and industry experts.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
· Receiving claims notifications, evaluating estimates, and negotiating claims up to and including settlement within your authority. This includes assessing Third Party liabilities, identifying fraud, and taking appropriate measures to safeguard and maximize recoveries.
· Directing and managing surveyors, loss adjusters, solicitors, and experts in daily claims handling, ensuring that costs and performance align with the loss.
· Ensuring collaboration with Assistant Managers and Practice leaders to maintain consistent and effective claims handling while adhering to the AXA Group Claim Alert process.
· Managing all claims effectively through a diary system and overseeing static and inactive claims across the broader team as necessary.
· Supporting underwriting teams and partners regarding claim trends, marketing, business development, and retention efforts.
· Liaising with Enterprise Shared Services as needed, including monitoring progress and providing guidance to ensure high levels of customer service are maintained.
· Collaborating with Management and Claims Legal to identify and select suitable counsel. Proactively managing litigation strategies on claims and ensuring compliance with local litigation management principles.
· Assisting the Marine team in key initiatives within the product line and executing tasks within agreed timelines.
· Delivering exceptional customer service to policyholders and brokers, ensuring that high customer service standards are upheld by all team members. Continuously identifying opportunities for enhancing client experiences.
You will report to the Assistant Claims Manager, Marine.
Required Skills and Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualifications:
· Strong communication skills coupled with excellent organizational abilities.
· An innovative mindset with the capability to devise effective solutions.
· Proficient numerical and literacy skills (minimum GCSE passes in Mathematics and English).
· Competence in PC and systems applications (relevant AXA Group systems, MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
· Experience in Marine insurance lines, with a particular interest or knowledge in Marine Insurance being highly advantageous.
· A foundational understanding of insurance principles, including policy liability, terms, and relevant clauses, preferably from a claims background; however, other technical insurance experience will be considered.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
· ACII qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
· Familiarity with Lloyd's minimum standards, Lloyd's regulations, and the subscription market.
