Position Overview

The Senior Clinical Practitioner will operate independently within the Emergency Care Services, collaborating closely with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.

This role is essential in delivering exceptional care to patients referred from various sources, including general practitioners, emergency departments, outpatient facilities, and community health services. The practitioner will also oversee the continuation of specialized services within the hospital.

The individual will engage in the provision of advanced education, training initiatives, and clinical leadership within the Emergency Care Services.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members is crucial for the development and evaluation of medical and nursing protocols, guidelines, and care pathways in emergency settings.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver clinical practice at an advanced level, actively participating in the care of patients within the Emergency Care Services.

- Provide expert clinical guidance and leadership to nursing teams, colleagues, and management as required.

- Lead efforts to enhance clinical practices by promoting and exemplifying evidence-based methodologies.

- Function as an independent practitioner, making informed clinical decisions, initiating necessary investigations, and implementing care and treatment plans using expert judgment and expanded scopes of practice.

- Serve as a role model and resource, assisting in the development of nursing and advanced practice roles in alignment with service evolution and care models.

- Advocate for practices that are dynamic, efficient, innovative, and continuously refined to meet the needs of the community.

- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving patient flow, ensuring timely discharges, reducing health disparities, and fostering integrated collaboration with primary and secondary care providers.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration with NMC or HCPC without restrictions.
  • Master’s degree in Advanced Practice or equivalent experience.
  • Registered non-medical prescriber status.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification.
  • Advanced life support certification.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years' experience at a senior level.
  • Experience in acute or emergency care settings.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously in a clinical environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in Emergency Care Services.
  • Leadership in service improvement initiatives.
