About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Primary Teacher to join our team on a maternity cover basis. As a SEN Primary Teacher, you will be responsible for providing high-quality education and support to students aged 4-16 with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the pedagogy of progressing learning and experience in working with students with SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviors. You will be a patient, compassionate, and resilient professional with strong behavior management skills.

You will be working in a dynamic and supportive environment where you will have the chance to develop and implement EHCPs in collaboration with teaching assistants and support staff.

About the School

Our school is a lovely special school located in Okehampton, providing high-quality education and support to students with SEMH needs. We are seeking two teachers to cover maternity to classes in KS2.

The students you will be supporting all have needs associated with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Most of the students also have other associated additional needs, such as autism, ADHD, attachment issues, and speech and language difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students' individual learning needs.
  • Provide targeted support, ensuring students remain motivated and engaged.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, with a focus on emotional wellbeing as much as academic progress.
  • Develop and implement EHCPs in collaboration with teaching assistants and support staff.
  • Implement behavior management strategies, building trusting relationships to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualifications.
  • Experience in working with students with SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviors.
  • Excellent understanding of the pedagogy of progressing learning.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient professional with strong behavior management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • An organised, reliable, and enthusiastic individual.
