Job Title: CUO Surety

At Munich Re Specialty Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CUO Surety to lead our Surety business in Europe. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy to achieve profit, quality, growth, diversification, and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all technical Surety underwriting activities in Europe, ensuring the quality of underwriting and adherence to guidelines and protocols.
  • Establish and implement Surety underwriting strategy, policy, and guidelines for Europe, aligned with MRSGM objectives and directives.
  • Direct and manage overall technical Surety underwriting activities in Europe, ensuring a high level of technical proficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Europe CEO and Country Managing Directors to build and manage the Surety portfolio across products, achieving desired business mix and performance goals.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and lead staff to achieve business objectives and build/manage the Surety book of business.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability in an executive leadership position, ideally as CUO Surety or Surety Head.
  • In-depth knowledge of exposure and experience rating processes.
  • Excellent people leadership skills, including stakeholder management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Strategic and forward-thinking with a proven track-record of general business management, including planning and forecasting.
  • Cross-cultural savvy, ideally having lived and/or worked in several European countries.
  • Language skills, ideally speaking +2 main European languages in addition to English.
