Abdominal Transplant Coordinator Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse to join our Abdominal Transplant Team as a Living Kidney Donor Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, coordinating and facilitating the living donor program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing effective management and organisational skills, coordinating and facilitating the living donor programme. This includes organising relevant medical investigations, delivering counselling to potential donors and recipients, and managing a patient caseload.

The ideal candidate will have post-registration experience in a specialist area of practice at a senior level, with a strong commitment to education and health promotion. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and across disciplines as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and facilitate the live donor programme in line with the British Transplant Society Standards on live donation.
  • Organise relevant medical investigations and deliver counselling to potential donors and recipients.
  • Manage a patient caseload and provide expert specialist individual care to patients and their carers during their progression through the transplant process.
  • Represent the Trust at National Meetings as Lead Specialist.
  • Provide specialist education and training.
Requirements
  • Registered General Nurse.
  • Diploma/Degree level Specialist training/study/experience.
  • Masters level equivalent or working towards.
  • Teaching qualification 998,126/127 or City and Guilds 730 or equivalent.
  • ENB Course relevant to care of patients with organ failure/transplantation or critical illness.
Skills and Abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective report writing skills.
  • Able to work independently and across disciplines as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective organisation and time management skills and able to work to deadlines.
  • Basic IT skills.
