Our Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineer/Associate with a strong background in Chemical Process Safety and expertise in Process Hazard Analysis for our team at Exponent .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough technical investigations related to containment failures.
  • Performing risk assessments and HAZOP studies.
  • Assessing mechanical integrity and evaluating the Fitness for Service of fixed assets.
  • Drafting comprehensive reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Supporting project management initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering, with a solid understanding of combustion, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
  • A Professional Engineering License is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in process safety, risk assessment, and mechanical integrity evaluation in accordance with industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Process Simulation tools such as HYSYS, Chemcad, or SimuLis.
  • In-depth knowledge of API, ASME, and ASTM standards, along with OSHA regulations.
  • Familiarity with essential Process Critical documents and equipment, including PFDs, P&IDs, and various reactors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information and communicate technical findings effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience in conducting incident investigations and hazard assessments using recognized methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
