Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team at our Biffa MBT facility in West Sussex. As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a critical role in driving engineering activities to deliver all operational aspects of the facility. You will be responsible for ensuring plant availability through effective maintenance, engineering, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive plant availability through effective maintenance, engineering, and process improvements.
- Ensure all PPMs, reactive maintenance, engineering, and process improvements are carried out and implemented in a timely manner.
- Drive best practice on a daily basis through high engineering, compliance, and H&S standards.
- Provide high operational availability and an efficient breakdown repair service through diagnosis and effective repairs.
- Carry out installation work to the required standards.
- Ensure productivity and availability exceed minimum defined standards, while driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations.
- Liaise with internal process engineers, Scada controllers, and external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work.
- Keep abreast of changes to Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation, and Company Policies to ensure defined standards and best practices are implemented.
- Ensure compliance with all Company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Review maintenance activities and implement necessary corrective actions as required.
- Work alongside the Electrical Technician to drive the engineering team in line with Shift Supervisor and pursue daily engineering issues that affect production and plant availability.
- Raise work orders for correct works and ensure all work carried out is signed off correctly.
Requirements
- Engineering Qualification Level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ.
- Previous health and safety training, IOSH.
- HNC/D Mechanical Engineering (desirable).
- IOSHH Managing Safely (desirable).
- Supervisory experience.
- DSEAR Awareness (desirable).
- Proven Welding experience (desirable).
