About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Capital Markets Assistant General Counsel to join our EMEA Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Legal Department in London. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our EMEA Equity Capital Markets (ECM) business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transaction Support: Pro-actively support the business groups across EMEA and other offices globally in structuring and executing transactions, including reviewing and negotiating legal documents, providing legal advice, and providing guidance on risk assessment and solutions.
  • Documentation and Policy: Liaise with the business teams, other control areas, and colleagues in Legal to set and maintain documentation standards, internal policies, practice guidelines, and monitor relevant legal, regulatory, and documentation developments.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Pro-actively share experience and know-how with colleagues in Legal, where appropriate globally, and provide training to the business and within Legal.
  • Project Participation: Participate in Legal and Firm-wide projects.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Lawyer licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.
  • Experience: Solid European Capital Markets experience in a lead role at a law firm (secondment to an investment bank - an advantage) or an in-house legal team at an investment bank.
  • Skills: Keen interest in transactional, legal, and regulatory work; ability to think laterally to identify and assess wider risks for the Firm, and to proactively work with the business and other control functions to find solutions; excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to work both independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Language: English - fluent.
