About the Role

Cobalt Housing is seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our digital transformation program, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing our business intelligence reporting framework.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Analysis
    • Monitor data integrity and database design to meet the needs of system development and reporting requirements.
    • Define and develop SQL queries/stored procedures for data migration and development of SSRS and Power BI reporting suites.
    • Analyse performance data to provide meaningful insight to support business decisions.
    • Specify and implement automated solutions using appropriate technologies and practices that continually improve business processes.
    • Manage the integration, consolidation, validation and cleansing of raw data from different sources to ensure users are analysing accurate and consistent information.
    • Support the completion, validation and submission of non-financial Regulatory Returns including the SDR and Cobalt's non-financial data to enable performance benchmarking with peers through Housemark.
    • Provide managers with performance data enabling them to translate this into effective and actionable information that enables service improvements.
    • Prepare periodical performance reports as required, ensuring that the data sources that the reports are utilised from are complete and accurate.
    • Support the annual review of performance indicators and adding and maintaining PIs within Pentana ensuring SMART targets are relevant to driving business improvement and creating Pentana portals and reports as requested.
    • Work with operational and digital teams to identify anomalous data and its sources, examining and eliminating any processes or procedures that contribute to unreliable data being collected and reported.
    • Support in the provision of complex, sensitive and contentious information, presenting information to a wide range of stakeholders through the development of a wide variety of business intelligence applications and reports.
    • Visualise data in the most effective and informative way, making use of appropriate challenge where necessary to ensure that data visualisations reflect best methodologies.
  2. Insight
    • Utilise process mapping and other business analysis tools to understand the root cause of requirements, designing and developing business intelligence solutions to these problems collaboratively with the operational teams.
    • Drive improvements in understanding of individual data sets and their impact across the business, proactively undertaking analyses and evaluations of data and proposing innovative, high-quality solutions.
    • Improve the process of data collection itself, proposing improvements and efficiencies to the collection, analysis and dissemination of data which will improve the quality of data across the organisation.
    • Research and develop the use of new innovations within systems data collection and analysis, with particular focus on utilisation of new technologies within the Microsoft suite of products as well as other tools which will improve the quality of data.
  3. Relationships
    • Link with members of other functions across operational and corporate services, to address inter-dependencies and ensure alignment.
    • Pro-actively represent the team by working with operational staff to ensure a consistent corporate approach to the provision and use of information.
  4. User Training
    • Promote the use of Microsoft Power BI throughout the business, providing support and training to all staff as part of a wider programme of training.
    • Develop new training materials for the Digital/Transformation team and the wider business based on needs and priorities identified during data work-up.

  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and SQL.
  • Experience of working in a business intelligence or data analysis role.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
