London, Greater London, United Kingdom Barts Health NHS Trust Full time

Job Overview

We are seeking to hire a full-time receptionist to join our dynamic team, delivering a high-quality Outpatient service for the Trust. Previous experience in a hospital reception role within an Outpatient environment is preferred. The primary responsibilities include welcoming patients, managing check-in and check-out processes, verifying demographic information, handling phone inquiries, and scheduling future appointments.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role. Flexibility is required, along with an understanding of the confidential nature of the work and the ability to manage varying workloads. Our clinics operate Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00, with occasional evening and weekend clinics, so candidates should be prepared to work during these times as part of their full-time schedule.

Proficiency in computer systems is desirable, as you will be expected to input and retrieve information from the Patient Administrative System - Cerner Millennium (CRS).

Key Responsibilities

The Outpatient Department serves as the initial point of contact for many patients, making it crucial to provide a friendly, efficient, and effective service. Patients and their caregivers expect a high standard of service, which begins with their reception experience. It is the receptionist's responsibility to ensure that all patients are welcomed and assisted efficiently throughout their visit.

With the Government's focus on the 18 Weeks pathway, it is vital for receptionists to recognize their important role in this process. Receptionists are responsible for accurately recording all activities in CRS, ensuring that patient pathways are documented and that the Trust receives appropriate funding for patient care.
