Job Overview

SUMMARY:

The role involves working with laminate and veneer materials, as well as aluminum extrusions, focusing on drilling and routing tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in operating essential machinery, including Routers, Hand Trimmers, Pillar Drills, and Chop Saws. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness and performing preventative maintenance on equipment. A solid understanding of technical drawings is essential, and the position requires collaboration within a team setting while adhering to all company and departmental standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to and advocate for safe working practices.
  • Promptly report any hazards or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while following health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
  • Inspect and measure materials to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Operate various power hand tools effectively.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and tools.
  • Uphold production quality standards consistently.
  • Provide additional support to factory teams as needed.
  • Engage in the Suggested Method Improvement program by proposing enhanced work methods.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as required.
  • Assist in training new staff members when necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this role successfully, candidates must be capable of executing each essential duty independently and satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • GCSEs or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
  • Proficient level of written and spoken English.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing measurement tools and hand tools.
  • Experience using inspection equipment such as calipers, squares, and micrometers.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic computer functions.
  • Ability to multitask and problem-solve effectively under deadlines.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid UK Driving License is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and enthusiasm for the role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and openness to change.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Effective communication skills with management and team members are essential.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires ongoing manual labor, including the ability to lift items weighing up to 25kg. Vision capabilities must include close, distance, and color vision.
