About the Role:

AWE Plc is seeking highly skilled Tooling Design Engineers to join our team. As a Tooling Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing bespoke hardware designs to support our programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop tooling and equipment to meet programme requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets manufacturing and quality standards
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including technical drawings and design support information
  • Present design concepts and progress at formal design reviews
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest manufacturing techniques and processes, including machining, presswork, inspection, moulding, and metrology

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes
  • Experience with Design to Manufacture (D2M) and tooling or equipment design
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric CAD packages, preferably Siemens NX
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management Tools, preferably Siemens Teamcenter
  • Understanding of UK Health and Safety Legislation and quality standards
  • Ability to work in a stage-gated process and develop hardware designs
  • Knowledge of DFMEAs and Model Based Realisation
