We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Engineering Manager to join our team at Arriva Bus. As a key member of our engineering operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe servicing, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of our vehicles and components.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Engineering Manager in the running of an efficient engineering operation, ensuring that all team members adhere to safe working practices and regulatory compliance.
- Lead and supervise a team of engineers to ensure they undertake their tasks efficiently and safely, meeting service and KPI targets.
- Identify and allocate workload to ensure it is balanced and presented at the correct time, liaising with other team leaders to determine work priorities and best practices.
- Ensure necessary resources are available to the team, including parts, consumables, tooling, and equipment.
- Root cause and target areas of improvement within fleet reliability, focusing on breakdown reduction, planned maintenance, and lost mileage.
- Work with the Engineering Manager to manage engineering costs and increase the efficiency and capability of the engineering team.
- A strong engineering background with proven experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles, equipment, and/or machinery, preferably with knowledge and/or experience of the Bus/HGV industry.
- A recognised apprenticeship or vocational qualification in a relevant mechanical, electrical engineering, or similar field, or educated to degree level or diploma in an engineering/vehicle maintenance discipline.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety and the ability to lead by example in adherence to related working policies, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to lead and supervise a team, bringing out the best in individuals to ensure a safe and effective working environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all staff and accept feedback in all forms.
