About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team at LMP Group. As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Finance Manager in ensuring that financial and administrative tasks are undertaken in accordance with agreed policies, legislation, financial regulations, and standing orders.
  • Input data onto the Trust's accounting software, run and prepare reports, carry out reconciliations, including ParentPay, scanning and filing, disseminate financial information where required, and perform internal control checks.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with administrative tasks, including taking minutes of meetings and filing.
  • Handle cash and cheques, including counting and accurately recording receipts, entering data onto academy finance computer software systems and spreadsheets, and undertaking visits to the bank as required.
  • Update and process transactions on the School Fund FMS database.
  • Process invoices onto the accounting database in accordance with ACET policy and procedure.
  • Check statements and purchase orders monthly to ensure accounting software is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Keep an up-to-date record of budget/authorized signatures for audit purposes.
  • Support the finance team in processing information onto ParentPay software system.
  • Process academy and school fund petty cash payments as stated within the academy finance manual.
  • Reconcile the petty cash boxes on a monthly basis.
  • Carry out monthly reconciliation of accounts as instructed by the Finance Manager.
  • Bill external users of the mini bus.
  • Record, order, and issue Academy uniform to students.
  • Record the use of pupil premium vouchers for the academic year.
  • Ensure the recovery of outstanding debt is dealt with according to academy procedures.
  • Assist with the administration of trips and offsite visits.
Requirements
  • 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics at Grade 4 (or equivalent Level 2).
  • Evidence a good standard of literacy/numeracy.
  • Commitment to attend appropriate training and development, taking ownership of personal development and being willing to pursue development opportunities.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience of working in an administration role.
  • Experience of working in a school environment.
  • An understanding of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, and security, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills – able to deal effectively and develop positive and effective working relationships with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Competent in the use of standard office software applications such as Word, Excel, email, and internet.
  • Knowledge of school-based software systems, for example SIMS.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexible, able to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities, with a can-do attitude.
  • Discrete when dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters.
  • Excellent time management/prioritization skills.
  • A good team worker while retaining the ability to work on own initiative.
