About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Colas Ltd, a leading provider of highways construction and maintenance services in the UK. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the administration of our Area 9 Maintenance and Response Contract, worth £328m, covering the Strategic Road Network in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, and Shropshire.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage budgets, cost forecasting, and control processes, including the use of contract programmes, change and risk registers.
  • Ensure the continual improvement of processes, procedures, and tools to enable the monitoring and management of key commercial drivers.
  • Administer contracts and/or subcontracts, including payment mechanisms, change procedures, and resolution of contentious issues.
  • Analyse and compare contracts and subcontract tenders, and conduct cost/budget/value comparisons and cash flow analysis.
  • Prepare, maintain, and audit suitable contemporary records of work progress, and prepare, present, negotiate, and agree interim and final accounts.
Requirements
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent commercially related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying in the Highways industry, or relevant transferable skills and experience in a construction background.
  • Professional membership of an appropriate organisation, such as RICS, CIOB, or ICES.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme card or willingness to obtain one.
  • Experience of administering NEC Term Service Contracts and other NEC forms of contracts.
  • Full UK driving licence.
