Thrive Oldham is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at our Blaenavon facility. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Mechanical Engineer and be responsible for providing timely and cost-effective maintenance and repair services. This will involve executing tasks in line with our Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule, ensuring work is carried out in compliance with all statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines and internal risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to operational priorities and seek clarity from Operations or Maintenance Management as necessary.
  • Support production activities by ensuring minimum response times to equipment breakdowns.
  • Execute tasks in line with Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule.
  • Assist in installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
  • Work alongside sub-contractors as required and take the lead in such circumstances.
  • Identify key spares requirements.
  • Fully utilize the Pirana CMMS.
  • Complete all repair and maintenance documentation to achieve full compliance with regulatory guidelines and company Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements:

  • Formally trained through an engineering apprenticeship, preferably to NVQ LEVEL 3 or equivalent.
  • Computer literate.
  • Broad range of experience in all aspects of maintenance in heavy engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with operating CMMS packages.
  • Experience of maintaining both CNC and manual machine tools.
  • Experience of maintaining and fault-finding on large, complex hydraulic systems.
  • Experience of maintaining heavy pressing or stamping equipment.
