Jameson Legal is seeking a highly skilled Marine Insurance Specialist to join our team. As a leading international law firm, we are renowned for our expertise in insurance litigation, particularly in marine casualty cases.
About the Role:
We are looking for a talented Associate to join our specialist Marine casualty team, which assists multi-national shipping clients, including shipowners, charterers, and protection & indemnity (P&I) clubs and their insurers and reinsurers. The ideal candidate will have strong academics, intellectual rigour, and technical and research skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and conduct of marine insurance litigation cases, including hull and machinery (H&M), increased value, loss of hire, cargo, mortgagee's interest (MI), war, charterers' liability, ports and terminals, and general liability.
- Conduct research and analysis to support the team's work, including reviewing case law, legislation, and industry developments.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including shipowners, charterers, and P&I clubs.
- Collaborate with other teams within the firm to provide a comprehensive service to clients.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in marine insurance litigation.
Requirements:
- Common law-qualified lawyer with 2-4 years' post-qualification experience in marine insurance litigation.
- Strong academics, intellectual rigour, and technical and research skills.
- Proven ability to manage a busy, complex case load.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adopt a proactive approach and take initiative.
