JOB OVERVIEW

As a CNC Machinist at NOV, you will leverage your expertise to effectively operate and manage numerically controlled (CNC) machinery. Your role will involve applying your knowledge of relevant programming languages to enhance production processes while ensuring that all products meet stringent precision and accuracy standards. You will be encouraged to embrace challenges, develop your leadership capabilities, and broaden your skills through various engaging initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Produce high-quality components on CNC machines efficiently and safely.
  • Execute set-up modifications, operate machinery, and conduct initial inspections during production runs.
  • Utilize overhead lifting equipment to load parts, verify programs, manage controls, set offsets, perform simple edits, and inspect parts for quality compliance.
  • Proactively identify potential issues before production begins, monitor machine operations, and make necessary adjustments to controls or media to rectify any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, precision measuring tools, and job orders to ascertain dimensions, tolerances, and tooling specifications.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of dimensions and tolerances related to tooling instructions, including feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and appropriate cutting tools.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completion of a time-served apprenticeship in a CNC Machinist discipline, equivalent to City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 (mandatory).
  • ONC/HNC qualification in Mechanical and Production Engineering (preferred).
EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven experience operating various CNC machines (mandatory).
  • Familiarity with high productivity machine shop environments (mandatory).
  • Experience in manual machining (preferred).
  • Experience with Multi-Axis CNC Machining (preferred).
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Proficient in operating a range of CNC machines (mandatory).
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Knowledge of manual handling, slinging, and lifting (mandatory).
  • Awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations (mandatory).
  • Desirable knowledge of CNC programming on Mazatrol and Fanuc controls.
  • Experience with Multi-Axis CNC Machining is a plus.
