The Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer (EC&I) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the technical excellence and operational reliability of our manufacturing facilities. This position is crucial for driving continuous improvement initiatives and projects aimed at maintaining a safe and efficient operational environment.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for developing and executing maintenance strategies for all electrical and control systems, ensuring that all scheduled maintenance activities are accurately defined and that essential spare parts are readily available to facilitate the maintenance team's effectiveness.

You will serve as the primary contact for all engineering Root Cause Analyses, implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences. Your responsibilities will include managing key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing monthly reliability reports, analyzing performance trends, and spearheading improvement projects to address identified issues, fostering a culture of continuous enhancement.

Engineering Responsibilities

  • Conducts gap analyses and leads the implementation of the Reliability Excellence (Rx) program for electrical, control, and instrumentation projects.
  • Performs asset criticality assessments.
  • Develops and executes best practice maintenance strategies.
  • Implements reliability programs, procedures, and guidelines, including the Rx-matrix.
  • Assists in the creation of predictive and preventative maintenance protocols.
  • Analyzes maintenance and production data to support Rx-related improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for failures of critical assets, leading RCA efforts when necessary.
  • Identifies critical spare parts and performs Min-Max calculations.
  • Collaborates with the Regional Reliability Excellence team to enhance the Reliability Excellence program.
  • Participates in the regional community of practice to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Facilitates training sessions on EC&I engineering and materials management principles.
  • Provides support to the site maintenance electrical teams as needed.

Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Possesses a solid understanding of CMMS and addresses user issues promptly.
  • Contributes to the implementation, enhancement, and upgrade of CMMS as required.
  • Delivers hands-on training for new users of the CMMS.
  • Stays informed about the latest technological advancements.

Project Management

  • Leads continuous improvement projects related to EC&I on-site, employing structured problem-solving and project management methodologies.
  • May participate in contractor bid meetings at the outset of equipment installations.
  • Provides engineering design input for smaller capital and continuous improvement projects.
  • Engages in the design review process for capital projects.
  • Leads or reviews maintenance plan development for new equipment.
  • Participates in the commissioning and start-up of new processes or facilities.

Engineering Services

  • Fosters effective working relationships with peers and management within the site and the Regional Reliability Excellence Team.
  • Offers insights on purchasing process, packaging, and material handling equipment based on experience.
  • Participates in Factory Acceptance Testing when requested at vendor facilities.
  • Provides input for selecting and qualifying equipment vendors and contractors to minimize risks.
  • Develops systems, tools, and processes to enhance plant safety, operational efficiency, quality, and service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in the EC&I engineering field.
  • Strong interpersonal, project management, organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in English communication (reading and speaking).
  • Experienced with reliability tools and methodologies, including FMEA, RCA, RCM, statistical analysis, condition monitoring, and asset criticality analysis.
  • Knowledgeable in spare parts management and Min-Max level calculations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing facility within the coating and painting industry.
  • Experience collaborating with maintenance departments.
  • Familiarity with Reliability Excellence or Manufacturing Excellence programs.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment such as mills, tapping, and labeling machines.
