About the Role

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Project Manager to join our Planning, Governance & Compliance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and reporting on the delivery of IT technical elements of business and technical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead solution teams, providing associated reporting on the delivery of IT elements of project work in line with business objectives, within budget and timescales.
  • Identify, clarify, and evaluate technical issues and risks, and initiate corrective actions, including management of the resolution.
  • Produce project documentation to facilitate project delivery control and reporting of IT product delivery, including the production and maintenance of an overall technical plan and regular progress reporting.
  • Lead, motivate, and support IT solution teams to ensure successful solution delivery, including day-to-day coordination of staff activities.
  • Liaise with project managers to update on project progress on all technical-related tasks.
  • Use initiative and knowledge to develop options and solutions to problems arising relative to the technical element of projects.
  • Engage with external suppliers for the duration of the project.
  • Coordinate all technical testing activity undertaken within the project.
  • Work within SQA's IT strategy and standards framework and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and documentation.

Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Exposure to delivery methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Iterative), delivery frameworks (e.g., Prince 2), and experience of utilizing project scheduling tooling (e.g., MS Project).
  • A working knowledge and/or previous experience working in the education sector.
