About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join our dynamic team at Siemens Energy. As a key member of our Service business, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of industrial gas turbines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative solutions to replace outdated mechanical equipment, ensuring the continued reliability and efficiency of our products.
  • Engage in design, coordination, and problem-solving activities, working closely with a team of experts in fluid systems, controls, and electrical engineering.
  • Provide technical interface with internal departments, regional divisions, suppliers, and customers, ensuring project upgrades are executed within allocated budgets and timescales.
  • Standardise and document solutions for consistent application.
  • Identify and source replacements for individual components and/or systems to maintain equipment functionality.
  • Propose and implement package upgrades to prevent future issues and enhance the overall product lifecycle.
  • Address and rectify issues in the field by analysing fault reports and implementing corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, layouts, and detailed engineering drawings using Siemens NX software.
  • Generate and lead BOMs, including part creation and lifecycle management within Siemens PLM.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering documentation, such as purchase specifications for equipment and components.
  • Produce design calculations and technical reports as required.
  • Provide technical recommendations into sales tenders to support future upgrades.
Requirements
  • A minimum of HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in a related engineering field.
  • Several years of experience in a design and CAD NX role within an associated or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in both Siemens NX and Siemens PLM software, with knowledge of piping design in relation to Gas/Steam Turbine and/or Gas Compression auxiliary packaged systems.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous.
  • A fundamental understanding of mechanical design with practical experience in its application.
  • Exceptional communication and coordination abilities, with experience in SAP and MS Office Suite.
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with the ability to think clearly and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the capability to troubleshoot complex engineering challenges independently.
