Our client is a boutique end-to-end insurance pricing firm, integrated within a broader London Market consortium. In this position, you will concentrate on enhancing attritional pricing for residential and small business insurance products, leveraging your expertise in data analytics to improve pricing strategies. Additionally, you will be instrumental in assessing Catastrophe risks.

Your role will involve close collaboration with the Product team, which oversees underwriting strategies and performance metrics, as well as the Data & Analytics team, responsible for managing our comprehensive datasets. Furthermore, you will establish relationships with pricing and reserving teams at capacity providers and third-party software partners.

Ideal Candidate:

This role is ideally suited for a recently qualified pricing actuary, preferably with a background in the US primary insurance market, who thrives in direct interactions with underwriters and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage our distinctive claims and exposure data to continuously refine non-catastrophe pricing
  • Provide support to the Data & Analytics team with your knowledge of data science methodologies
  • Collaborate with external software vendors to advance our pricing techniques
  • Assist in the evaluation of Catastrophe risks
  • Deliver insights on critical reporting metrics to the Data & Analytics team
  • Engage in portfolio optimization initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with underwriters and actuaries from capacity providers

Skills and Experience:

  • Nearly or newly qualified actuary
  • Proven experience in general insurance pricing (retail or London Market)
  • Experience in US Property pricing is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a strong inclination towards data-driven decision-making
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of articulating complex actuarial concepts to varied audiences
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) with a commitment to further skill development
  • A collaborative mindset, able to work across various functions
