Electrical Design Manager

Our client, a leading high voltage electrical engineering company, is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join their team in Bristol. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a team of CAD technicians and Electrical Design Engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the design and development of electrical power infrastructure, grid connections, and renewable energy generation projects.
  2. Collaborate with the in-house CAD drafting team to generate equipment layouts, cable route drawings, and construction plans.
  3. Select and specify primary equipment and design HV substations from 11 kV to 132 kV.
  4. Design secondary control wiring and protection schemes for substations and prepare protection reports.
  5. Develop and implement design standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with CDM and Health and Safety regulations.
  6. Provide technical guidance and support to electrical design engineers and project engineers.
  7. Manage and coordinate design packages for DNO contestable works from 11 kV to 132 kV.
  8. Ensure that all designs are safe, efficient, and meet the required standards.
Requirements
  1. Must have previous experience as an electrical engineer within the electrical contracting or utilities industries.
  2. A degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with a higher degree or postgraduate qualification in power systems being an advantage.
  3. Proven ability to manage and support a team of engineers and provide technical guidance.
  4. Excellent communication and project management skills.
  5. Ability to travel on work-related business with occasional overnight stays.
  6. Full UK driving license required.
