Job Summary:
You'll be part of a large team of electricians, providing preventative and corrective site maintenance across our O&M portfolio and supporting the team with new build integration duties. You'll require a solid understanding of DC, AC, communications, circuit protection, and a strong aptitude for fault finding. Additionally, you should have good knowledge of solar O&M, as well as HV and LV systems, ensuring all electrical work carried out meets industry standards and good Health and Safety practices.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Health and Safety and quality on new sites
- Work to a planned maintenance schedule
- Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner
- Diagnose faults and inspect work in progress and upon completion
- Repair equipment when necessary and inspect work for satisfactory performance
- Participate in on-the-job training for colleagues
- Review suitable stocks of supplies and equipment and request specialist components, fixtures, or fittings as required
- Advise management on required stock levels and costs
- Ensure compliance with company Health and Safety policy
- Recommend improvements and modifications
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders, including the public
- Document work undertaken and provide a daily activity report
- Recognize issues and assess risks, and review findings with management
- Participate in internal and external meetings as requested
- Identify and meet personal job-related training and development needs
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
The Management at Recurrent Energy expects all employees and subcontractors to conduct themselves in a professional and safe manner. This includes:
- Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who could be affected by their actions or omissions
- Reporting any accidents or near misses to their Line Manager
- Cooperating in all aspects of health and safety procedures introduced by Management
- Adhering to Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and operational policies and procedures
- Ensuring work equipment is only used for its intended purpose and that they have been trained to use it
- Ensuring adequate First Aid provisions are always in place within their work vehicles, in accordance with company First Aid requirements
- Wearing personal protective equipment when conditions require or where identified by risk assessment method statement or mandatory signage
- Following safe working procedures when handling, storing, using, or transporting any COSHH-controlled items
- Reporting any medical problems experienced when undertaking work functions to the Line Manager and Health and Safety Team, adhering to Occupational Health Surveillance requirements
- Assisting with any investigations or accident reports as necessary
- Maintaining a good standard of housekeeping throughout their areas of work
- Ensuring work equipment is only used for its intended purpose and that they have been trained to use it
- Identifying and sharing ideas for Health and Safety improvement throughout the business
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years solar O&M experience
- Site supervisory experience
- 18th edition qualification
- Level 3 electrical qualification
- HV Authorized Person preferred but not essential (training will be provided)
- Experience working with central and string inverter manufacturers preferred but not essential
- Worked on large-scale solar projects preferred but not essential
- Comprehensive knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulation Standards
- Comprehensive knowledge of DC electrical systems
- Ability to understand site drawings and SLDs
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with emergency situations
- Hardworking, reliable, and flexible
- Ability to work well as part of a team and also work well alone
