Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Trade Delivery: Carry out complex maintenance and construction activities in a core craft discipline and be suitably qualified and proficient in at least one other trade to complete projects to the satisfaction of customers, clients, and management.
  • Associated Duties: Undertake associated duties or tasks that complement the core trades, such as plastering and painting, to contribute to our 'one job, one visit' objective.
  • Work Planning: Plan and organise work in an economical and effective manner, making the best use of available time, plant, transport, and materials in accordance with specified company outputs and priority response times.
  • Customer Liaison: Operate within a scheduled appointment system, including liaison with customers and other team members, to effectively undertake works.
  • Training and Development: Supervise and train apprentices, trainees, or other employees as assigned to effective standards and specifications.
  • Diagnostic and Pre-Measuring Work: Undertake diagnostic and pre-measuring work to ascertain the nature of any activity and facilitate its completion.
  • Communication and IT: Use any communication or IT equipment to facilitate the job role, including receiving instructions, completing works orders, general communications, and ordering materials.
  • Decision Making: Make necessary decisions regarding repair requirements within contractual guidelines and inform customers, with reasons, when it is not possible to complete a repair and make mutually agreed arrangements to complete the repair, referral for clarification or escalation.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Correctly complete all documentation and provide/input all information associated with the role and duties undertaken.
  • Company Development: Contribute to the company's development and competency programme.
  • Vehicle Operation: Drive company vehicles in a careful and professional manner in accordance with all company procedures.
  • Stock and Equipment Management: Maintain and operate an agreed range of stock and equipment within the vehicle provided.
  • Tool and Equipment Use: Use all necessary tools, plant, and equipment associated with the post and duties undertaken.
  • Material Management: Manage materials as effectively as possible with regards to minimising waste, choice of specification, and logistics.
  • Training and Development: Undertake individual or corporate training and development in association with your role and duties.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure the observance of all statutory and local safety precautions and report immediately any accidents or breaches of safety procedures.
  • Coordination and Communication: Liaise as required with schedulers, planners, CLOs, other HMS divisions, or contractors to ensure the work is properly coordinated and the necessary works are fully completed.
  • Quality and Customer Care: Ensure the compliance of all minimum standards of work, customer care requirements, and key performance measures in undertaking the role.
  • Additional Duties: Carry out other appropriate duties as required which your line manager may from time to time determine.
  • Flexible Working: Where required, work as part of a rota to work out of normal hours in order to provide a seamless repairs and maintenance service to customers (Separate payment agreement applies).
Requirements
  • CSCS Card: Hold a CSCS card at an appropriate level.
  • Driving License: Possess a full UK or EU driving license.
  • Trade Qualifications: Hold City and Guilds or NVQ level 3 in a core discipline and have a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Trade Experience: Have experience of joinery, building maintenance, and construction activities.
  • Customer Care Skills: Possess good customer care skills.
  • Proactivity: Be willing to be proactive in the continuous improvement of a quality service.
  • Trade Multiskilling: Have experience of trade activity associated with core skills, multiskilling.
  • Initiative: Be able to demonstrate initiative when dealing with situations and completing tasks.
