Nottingham Children's Hospital is a leading pediatric healthcare provider within the vibrant city of Nottingham, renowned for its rich history and cultural attractions. Situated within the Queen's Medical Centre campus, our 116-bed facility houses eight inpatient wards dedicated to various specialties.

As a major trauma center, our Children's Critical Care Unit collaborates closely with the Emergency Department to deliver front-line care for trauma patients. We provide essential services for Neurology/Neurosurgery; Spinal/Orthopaedic; Oncology/Haematology; Respiratory; General Surgery and Rheumatology. The Hospital also serves as a regional provider of paediatric renal services, actively engaging in kidney transplants and haemofiltration.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Pediatric Critical Care Nurse to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert clinical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to our nursing staff while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
  • Supervise and mentor junior nurses, fostering their professional development and growth.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, allied health professionals, and other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based nursing practices to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure continuous process enhancement.
  • Advocate for patients' rights and well-being, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent qualification.
  • Significant post-registration experience in pediatric critical care nursing.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
