Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to join our team at The Electronics Group. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design of complex engineering projects, managing a team of multidisciplinary design engineers, and ensuring that all design outputs meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of MEICA and Civil projects from outline design to construction support stages.
  • Directly manage a team of design engineers to produce design outputs that meet client specifications and standards.
  • Manage specialist external design resources as required.
  • Prepare and agree fee proposals, programmes, and resource management to ensure the design team delivers in line with financial approvals and programme.
  • Develop and manage programmes for all design projects to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Conduct site scoping/survey visits to obtain necessary information for design development.
  • Ensure all design is developed, produced, and approved in line with company QA procedures.
  • Review, audit, and approve technical reports, appraisals, designs, and drawings to ensure compliance with client health and safety and technical standards.
  • Arrange and chair workshops and design meetings to review design proposals and progress.
  • Assist with placement and management of procurement packages.
  • Support project managers and directors within the business.
  • Stay up-to-date with technical and HSQE matters and be aware of policy and developments in these areas.
  • Present technical data or project results to clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain design input throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in a clean water-based industry.
  • BTEC HNC/HND in an engineering field as a minimum.
  • EUSR water hygiene card.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Degree in an engineering field.
  • Strong Auto-CAD design skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Project to manage programmes.
  • Membership with relevant professional bodies.
  • Multi-disciplinary knowledge.

Other Comments:

  • Driving license required.
