We are an independently owned specialty bakery with an onsite production facility where all our baked goods are crafted with passion and care. Our mission is to supply our guests and other businesses with high-quality, artisanal pastry and bread products.

Located in a vibrant community, Layers Bakery is a wholesale bakery that delivers our baked goods throughout the city to other cafes and restaurants.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Barista to join our team in creating exceptional coffee and pastry experiences for our customers. The ideal candidate will be experienced, have a positive attitude, and be dedicated to delivering outstanding service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specialty coffees and other beverages for both dine-in and takeaway customers
  • Provide excellent customer service by taking orders and offering recommendations
  • Operate coffee-making equipment such as espresso machines and grinders
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitization standards for the front of house
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Ability to build rapport with our customers
  • Ability to work under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills; both to give and ask for help where required
  • Situational awareness within the bakery - you know what's happening around you
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • Strong time management skills to ensure timely service delivery
  • Previous experience in food and coffee preparation is an asset
