About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Health Play Specialist to join our dynamic team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and young people in our hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic play programs to support the holistic care of children.
  • Promote awareness of the emotional needs of children in hospital and the importance of play within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to children and their families.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of child development, play theory, and therapeutic play practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of play-based interventions to support children's physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Requirements
  • FdE or equivalent Health Care Play Specialism Qualification (or international equivalent).
  • Awareness of Children's safeguarding issues.
  • Experience working with children within a hospital setting.
  • Experience in child care settings.
  • Experience/knowledge of different cultures and ethnic groups.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge/experience relating to consent, confidentiality, and child protection.
