Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a thriving, specialized international manufacturing firm located in Knowsley. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of machinery and equipment within the organization.

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for diagnosing equipment malfunctions, addressing reactive breakdowns, and leading maintenance continuous improvement initiatives, ranging from minor Kaizen projects to significant capital undertakings. The primary objective is to reduce downtime and enhance productivity through effective maintenance practices.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide critical support during equipment and machinery breakdowns, adhering to the breakdown escalation protocol.
  • Utilize effective problem-solving and diagnostic testing to ensure rapid recovery from breakdowns.
  • Implement a continuous improvement approach across all maintenance activities and communicate potential enhancements.
  • Lead initiatives for maintenance continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, gathering data, and supporting the development of business cases.
  • Oversee the installation, relocation, and modification of machinery and equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and refurbishments of various components and systems.
  • Execute planned maintenance tasks according to established schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards during maintenance operations.
  • Uphold 5S standards across all maintenance work areas.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to coordinate maintenance efforts and minimize operational disruptions.

Equipment Systems:
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will work with a variety of systems, including:
  • Machine: 3 & 4 Axis Vertical CNC Mills, 2 & 3 Axis Vertical and Horizontal CNC Radial Grinders, Manual Radial Grinder, Manual Lathe, Needle Loom, Radial Test and Balancing, Laser Etching, Industrial and Bespoke Static Ovens, Infra-Red Ovens, Bespoke Fixturing, Resistive and Induction Furnace.

Control Systems:
Familiarity with control systems such as Siemens Sinumerik, S7 and TIA, Mazatrol, Bosch Rexroth, HAAS, and Fanuc is essential.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ, ONC, C&G, HNC, HND) along with an appropriate apprenticeship.
  • Experience in a Maintenance or Engineering environment.
  • Proven experience in identifying, designing, and implementing improvement projects.
