Job Role: Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £50k - £54k plus 10% Bonus, Package and Excellent Pension

Client: Global Manufacturing Company

A leading global manufacturing company with a state-of-the-art site in the area is seeking an Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the maintenance/electrical asset care strategy and technical challenges to ensure maximum line efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level engineering technical expertise to maximise productivity and achievement of targets in a high-speed production environment.
  • Provide breakdown support in the event of equipment failure to maintain world-class production standards.
  • Ensure the plant operates at agreed efficiency levels, optimising automation as required.
  • Provide technical advice on electrical standards for maintenance improvement.
  • Modification, programming, and installation of control systems on automated machinery.
  • Manage improvements in electrical maintenance strategy and coordinate electrical asset care improvement programmes.
  • Reactive support for site automation issues with a clear escalation process.
  • Ownership of automation Capex projects.
  • Optimise automated warehouse performance by ensuring machines' hardware and software are performing.
  • Ensure all sites have the required software programs, licenses, and connections.
  • Provide specialist software/automation troubleshooting support.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Apprentice trained or graduate engineer in an electrical discipline with an electrical qualification.
  • Strong emphasis on Automation experience, electrically biased with PLC skills.
  • Experience as an Electrical Engineer with a background in PLCs and OEM, SCADA preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including Food, FMCG process, or General Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on automation experience within automated warehouse environments.
