Job Description

Our client, a leading player in the offshore, ports and shipping, and oil and gas industry, is seeking a highly skilled Crane Automation Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for working on new and innovative projects worldwide, utilizing your expertise in automation and control systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and PLC systems, with experience in programming Siemens PLCs, drives, and SCADA systems. Additionally, they will possess excellent managerial and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Completing site surveys onshore, offshore, or overseas
  • Providing technical and fault-finding support for electrical, PLC & Drive systems
  • Assisting with the review of PLC & drive specifications and the production of FDS documents
  • Preparing automation project documentation and certification packages
  • Assisting in the production of maintenance documents
  • Preparing Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Backing up PLCs & Drives from existing systems for reverse engineering or upgrading
  • Designing and coding electrical and PLC systems for onshore and offshore cranes and lifting equipment
  • Liaising between engineers and subcontractors during installation projects
  • Carrying out initial commissioning of projects
  • Managing projects, including technical and commercial aspects
  • Familiarizing with client's and company HSEQ policies and procedures
  • Familiarizing with client's and company Safety policy and the Safety Management System
  • Planning, organizing, and documenting client work processes to deliver the required standard with minimum risk to personnel, plant, materials, and the environment
  • Providing precise instructions to implement safe methods of work and pre-defined communication lines between client and company
  • Encouraging personnel to develop an acceptable safety and environmental culture
  • Acting immediately on any breach of company rules and reporting to line manager
  • Providing project management and engineering support for offshore crane repairs, refurbishment, operation, and maintenance
