About the Role

The London Borough of Sutton is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Officer to join its shared finance service with Kingston Council. This role will focus on supporting the capital programme and revenue and capital budget setting processes for Sutton Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver financial support to budget managers, including planning, budgets, financial management, and monitoring.
  • Support the Strategic Capital Finance Business Partner in maintaining accurate capital working papers and providing transparent governance over capital budgets.
  • Prepare journals, virements, and reserve movements.
  • Assist the Strategic Corporate Finance Business Partner in completing statutory returns and ad hoc requests for information.
About Us

The Financial Planning and Business Partnering team is a key part of the shared finance service, supporting Sutton Council only. The team has 17 positions that combine to deliver revenue and capital financial planning and business partnering services.

The shared finance service aims to add value and inspire success by translating business intelligence into business success, safeguarding financial health, empowering customers, and learning and improving.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Part or fully qualified in a relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to use digital tools and software to deliver effective finance support.
  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment and achieving successful outcomes.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to provide detailed information at pace.
  • Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing, with the ability to discuss and present finance concepts.
