Unlock Your Potential as a Senior Sustainability Consultant

This is an exceptional opportunity to join our pioneering Smart Energy and Sustainability team, where you will play a key role in shaping the UK's response to the climate emergency.

As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of BREEAM projects, providing support in areas such as Part L, Energy Strategies, and LCA assessment. You will also manage your own workload, review project details, and develop targets for sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of BREEAM projects with support from a senior member of the team.
  • Part L, Energy Strategies, and LCA assessment.
  • Managing your own workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Reviewing project details and developing targets for sustainability.
  • Reviewing documentation provided by project teams, assessing it against project targets, and providing feedback or follow-up.
  • Setting up and maintaining projects via the project evidence tracker.
  • Communicating sustainability requirements to internal and external team members.
  • Producing reports providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams.
  • Attending site visits to review progress against sustainability targets.
  • Reviewing the performance of designated projects on a monthly basis and updating the team's project tracker with progress information.
  • Assisting in preparing bids and proposals for new work.
  • Engaging with skills networks to exchange best practices and processes.
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings.
  • Completing relevant training to become certified as a BREEAM assessor/AP.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Ambitious, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the construction industry and built environment.
  • Ability to manage projects.
  • Client relationship management skills.
  • Proven track record of project delivery.
  • Part L modelling experience (TAS preferable) and LCA experience (Oneclick preferable).
  • Experience developing and managing others (Principal/Associate grades only).
  • Emerging business development and sales skills.
  • Strong business development experience (Associate grade only).

We are also keen to know if you can offer any of the following attributes:

  • Working knowledge of building performance modelling techniques and experience with software such as IES Virtual Environment, Spacemaker AI, etc.
  • Knowledge of or technical ability in energy/renewables/built environment/environmental science-related disciplines.
  • An ability to apply analytical skills across a range of scales, i.e., buildings, campuses, cities.
  • Experience in presenting analytical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Knowledge of planning, environmental impact assessments, or wider sustainability policy and legislation.
  • Understanding of structural engineering, architectural design, and materials specification and supply chains.
  • Experience in producing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
  • Qualifications within PAS 2050/2060/2080 standards.
  • Experience in using CIBSE TM65 embodied carbon calculation methodology.
  • Capability to lead a team and develop new products in an ever-expanding market.
  • Graphic design capabilities, including the ability to use software packages such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and BlueBeam.
  • Ability to develop digital toolkits for use internally and by clients.
  • Hold a relevant degree, BEng (Hons), or BSc (Hons), or equivalent/higher.
  • Qualified BREEAM Assessor.
  • Background in building physics/environmental design, environmental science, or sustainability-related disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of building performance modelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of planning, environmental impact assessments, or wider sustainability legislation.
  • Knowledge of or technical ability in building services-related disciplines.
