Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Field Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be integral to our 24/7 operational support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing equipment failures promptly to minimize downtime and ensuring that temporary solutions are followed by permanent fixes.
  • Conducting urgent repair work on all operational machinery efficiently.
  • Participating in the planning and execution of preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Managing small-scale projects effectively and proactively.
  • Adopting a cost-effective approach to maintenance tasks and engaging in root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
  • Coordinating with external contractors and suppliers during their on-site activities.
  • Contributing to the ongoing enhancement of our engineering processes through your insights and experiences.
  • Performing welding and fabrication tasks to a high standard.
  • Utilizing risk assessments and method statements to develop safe working practices for repair operations.
  • Upholding and promoting Health & Safety regulations, adhering to all company protocols.
  • Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions and practices through established company channels.
  • Utilizing our computerized maintenance management system to document all maintenance activities, including fault descriptions, parts used, and repairs completed.
The Ideal Candidate

The perfect candidate for the Field Mechanical Maintenance Technician position will be self-driven, enthusiastic, and capable of working independently. You should have proven experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Ideal candidates will:

  • Possess a recognized apprenticeship (preferably at a higher level).
  • Have ONC/HNC qualifications (desirable but not mandatory).
  • Bring a strong practical background in mechanical systems, particularly in heavy industry—experience with conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and similar equipment is preferred.
  • Demonstrate fault-finding skills to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Be skilled in bearing removal and installation.
  • Be capable of executing urgent repairs efficiently on all production machinery.
  • Have the ability to assess safety risks associated with work activities and manage them effectively.
  • Be knowledgeable about site-specific safety procedures and best practices.
