Job Description

You will help to support the Head of Financial Accounts in the monthly compilation and submission of the Group Accounts reporting template to regulatory bodies, liaising with fellow professionals both inside and outside Finance as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Head of Financial Accounts during periods of absence.
  • Investigate and advise on highly complex issues associated with Financial Accounting, including capital reporting, and lead on appropriate technical adjustments to ensure the accuracy and validity of the Statement of Financial Position.
  • Responsibility for the consolidation of subsidiary companies accounts into the Group position, co-ordinating the work of the Trust financial management team & those of the two subsidiaries, to the stated deadlines and ensuring compliance with the guidance including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Department of Health (DHSC) Group Accounting Manual and other statutory guidance.
  • Ensure the accurate preparation of the monthly Finance Pack and Financial appendices of the Performance Report; extracting relevant information from the ledger and analysing, interpreting and summarising this in a format suitable for presentation to Committees within the organisation.
  • Manage the Trust Asset register, ensuring it is up-to-date, fit for purpose and provides accurate and timely information for monthly and year-end financial reporting.
  • Be the organisation lead on all financial matters relating to leasing, including maintenance of the Lease Register for all organisations in the Group, ensuring compliance with the reporting requirements of IFRS16.
  • Be responsible for all the accurate coding and reporting of Trust capital expenditure, providing highly complex technical accounting advice to finance and non-finance professionals on matters relating to capital.
  • Provide advice on technical accounting issues, interacting with regulatory bodies, Department of Health (DHSC), and auditors (Internal and External) as appropriate.

Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A knack for detail and accuracy, with an ability to work under pressure.
