Position Overview

Salt Recruitment is seeking a Lead Procurement Specialist for a Local Government organization in the Thames Valley region. This role is on a contractual basis to provide coverage during a maternity leave period. Candidates should possess experience within Local Government, particularly in the Place and Growth sector.

Compensation: £400-£450

Contract Length: 9-12 months

Work Arrangement: Primarily remote with occasional onsite presence required

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate procurement initiatives to achieve the Council's strategic objectives, focusing on priority projects within the Place and Growth sector.
  • Collaborate with Council personnel, particularly those in the Place and Growth sector.
  • Establish a comprehensive performance management framework across the organization, identifying procurement and contract-related risks and opportunities, and consolidating performance data from various services.
  • Deliver high-quality procurement support and advisory services.
  • Investigate innovative methods to fulfill the Council's strategic outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the implications of the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Proven experience in local government procurement processes.
  • Relevant professional credentials, such as those from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply or an equivalent business qualification.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with E-procurement software systems.
Team Dynamics
  • Join a collaborative Corporate Procurement Team composed of Procurement and Contracts experts.
  • Engage closely with stakeholders in the Place and Growth sector to influence key procurement projects and drive cost savings.
  • Enjoy a hybrid working model, offering the flexibility to work from home and in the office.
