Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team at OA. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the commissioning, servicing, and periodic maintenance of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and associated battery solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits for service and maintenance of UPS systems, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on all types, makes, and models of UPS, batteries, switchgear, and control systems, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
  • Replace service parts in accordance with remedial documentation, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Commission new UPS and battery systems, including associated switchgear equipment, to ensure seamless integration and operation.
  • Perform battery testing using up-to-date equipment, including Flir technology, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Support the company's Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements for breakdown response times, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of issues.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to internal departments and customers, responding to queries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Accurately complete all service visit reports, including detailed recommendations for remedial actions, and submit them within the agreed deadline.
  • Update the company's CRM system with all relevant information, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across teams.
  • Participate in the company's on-call rota, providing 24/7 support and coverage as required.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and PPE control requirements, as outlined in specific on-site RAMS documentation, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct dynamic on-site risk assessments before commencing any work, identifying potential hazards and implementing mitigating measures as necessary.
  • Attend manufacturer training sessions to enhance knowledge and skill set, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry developments.
  • Perform other reasonable duties or tasks as determined by the needs of the business, which may include UPS installations and battery replacements.

Requirements:

  • Relevant electronic qualification, such as a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Electrical qualification and hands-on experience, with a strong understanding of power electronics and medium voltage applications.
  • ECS Card (not essential, but desirable).
  • At least 5 years of experience working as a field engineer on UPS systems, with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience working with power electronics and medium voltage applications, with a strong understanding of UPS systems and battery technology.
  • A clean Full UK driving license, with a valid vehicle insurance policy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Good personal organization skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in all Microsoft Office applications, with proficiency in report writing and UPS system interrogation.
  • A strong sense of accountability, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results and exceeding customer expectations.
