Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our team at a leading global hedge fund. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux engineering, with a focus on low latency infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Delivery: Collaborate with our business partners, application owners, clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver end-to-end solutions in a timely manner.
  • Infrastructure Management: Manage and maintain our Linux-based infrastructure, including 400+ servers across 22 sites, to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Automation and Optimization: Implement automation, optimization, and ongoing service enhancement to ensure exceptional service performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with different teams and stakeholders to establish and launch new colocation sites globally.
  • Continuous Improvement: Take the initiative to automate routine tasks, promote the practice of Infrastructure as Code, and continuously improve the Linux server infrastructure by optimizing workflows and processes.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience working with Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Rocky preferred) in a large complex or niche environment with a focus on operations, systems engineering, and systems performance.
  • Server Management: Experience with server management and support, including HP, SuperMicro, Dell, and various overclock servers.
  • Low Latency Network Interfaces: Knowledge of low latency network interfaces and kernel bypass, including Solarflare with onload and Mellanox with VMA.
  • System Hardware/OS Tuning: Experience with system hardware/OS tuning and performance troubleshooting, including understanding of CPU architectures.
  • Build and Configuration Management: Experience with build and configuration management tools, specifically Chef or Ansible.
  • Observability Tools: Experience with observability tools, specifically Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Scripting and Automation: Highly motivated and a keen eye for scripting and automation in Python, Ruby, and Bash.
  • Server Network Stack Configuration: In-depth knowledge of server network stack configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting, including TCP, UDP, NTP, PTP, and wireshark/tshark.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving: Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle troubleshooting the unknown, glitches, and the obscure.
  • Education: Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related experience.
